Top 5 Budget Caravans At The 2011 Motorhome and Caravan Show
Search: in
You may have seen our article about the Top 5 luxury caravans at the 2011 Motorhome and Caravan Show and not all of us can afford £20k+ for a caravan so we put together our list of the top 5 caravans under £15k. Like our last article, this list is entirely subjective and we asked our staff to look at each caravan on the basis of how much value for money they felt they were getting. The choices they came up with are below...

5. Adria Altea 432PX - £12k

This caravan is a fantastic budget choice for a family while at the same time offering everything you need for a holiday. The fixed double bed and rear living area is a different take on the design and might no suit everybody but we like it. The equipment you get is in line with what you’d expect for the price and overall it feels solid. We think this caravan comes into it’s own when used by a couple.

4. Elddis Rambler 13/2 - £13.5k

This caravan is another solid offering from Elddis. It’s everything you’d expect at a good price. It’s a great choice for people looking for a compact yet airy caravan. It certainly feels larger on the inside than it looks on the outside. Overall, a solid effort from Elddis but it loses out to the Lunar (below) due to the fact it is 150kg heavier.

3. Sprite Lite 2 - £10k

This caravan really impressed our staff in one key area, it only costs £10,000. That is peanuts for a 2012 spec caravan and although it’s basic to say the least, it’s honest and we like that. OK, there’s no oven, the heating is gas only and there’s no shower but it doesn’t seem to matter. The bathroom is very large and there is huge amounts of storage all around the caravan. It’s comfortable, feels airy and most of all offers excellent value. In the current climate that's a big tick in our box

2. Lunar Ariva - £13.5k

This 2 berth caravan is everything you’d expect from a Lunar: well built, light and well equipped. This can be towed by your average family car and offers everything you’re likely to need. As you’d expect from a smaller caravan, the bathroom isn’t the largest. That said though it’s perfectly usable and well thought out. The caravan feels light, airy and most importantly, homely.

1. Elddis Xplore 304/302 - £10.7k / £11.6k

We’ve included these together as there’s not much to choose between them. The 304 (pictured below) is the lightest 4 berth caravan on the market which means it’s suitable for the widest range of tow cars. You can tell these two have been really thought out. The heating is underfloor to save space, the oven is small but at least it’s there, storage is ample and overall it’s a nice place to be. Little things such as two TV points, removable carpets and large fridge let you know that Elddis haven’t just dumped off things to get the price down. We like this approach a lot. Our choice would be the 4 berth but you really can’t go wrong with either.
