There is a certain freedom and excitement that I feel every time I am packing for a trip that I just can’t explain. I know mist people think of Great Britain as having bad weather and being a bit boring, but they are wrong.

Who cares if the weather is bad? That is just part of what makes our country beautiful. If you take your caravan out for a week you can choose where you go, making last minute decisions to change your mind and you can take as much time as you want to get there. Now, you don’t get that on a plane do you? Unless you are the pilot I guess.

One of the best things about driving across the country to go on a caravan holiday is the fact that you can stop off whenever you see something that appeals to you. I personally have taken spur of the moment breaks at Diggerland, Monkey World and Legoland, all simply because I wanted to. And my goodness I had a good time.

You also have the comfort of sleeping in an environment that is familiar to you. Your caravan has become a second home and you aren’t trying to sleep in a hotel where you aren’t 100% comfortable. Wherever I park up my caravan, I am still at home. Like a snail and his shell I guess, sort of.

And you don’t have to worry about the food at your hotel being inedible. When you are living in your caravan for the week, you can head to a pub for some food, or a restaurant, or if you fancy it you can just stay in and cook yourself up a storm. It is just being able to play by your own rules, that makes a holiday special.

Also, why go abroad and spend all that money when you can see some truly wonderful sights in this country? We have so much to offer in terms of landmarks, natural wonders, and historical places of importance. So next time you are planning a holiday, save some money and go caravanning.
