Description

Description of Beds: Bear has been designed with a family of four in mind. The permanent rear bed bunk set up is designed to sleep two people per bunk, offering the practicality of being able to jump straight into bed and the luxury of holiday lie-ins.

Description of Seating: Bear has four belted seats: two single captain style leather swivel seats in the cab and a double leather passenger seat in the rear. When parked up, the single cab seats can swivel round to create a social set up facing the rear passenger seats, perfect for a roadside lunch or an evening alfresco-style scenic dinner.

Description of Electrical Setup: Bear is fully equipped with a shore external hook up (connection to mains power) which is rarely needed due to the 3 x 175 watt solar panels on the roof. Internally there are 4 mains socket outlets and ample usb and usb c charging points. Bear boasts 2 Victron AGM batteries each with 220ah, a 2000w inverter and a DC to DC alternator powered charger.

About the area: Buckhurst Hill is a quiet suburban town where the majority of habitants are London working commuters. Its position on the Central Line makes it perfect for people travelling via public transport being just a 10 minute walk from the station which is 45 minutes into Central London. Both the M25 and M11 junctions are within 15 minutes drive which is perfect for people travelling to us by car. Buckhurst Hill sits within Epping Forest, a 2,400-hectare area of ancient woodland, great for walks and outdoor activities.

Parking: For those travelling by Car there is ample unrestricted parking down our road which is a quiet cul-de-sac. Guests are more than welcome to leave their car here for the duration of their trip away. For others travelling by public transport we are a 10 minute walk away from our nearest London tube station, Buckhurst Hill. This train line connects us with major overground train links nationally and London airports.

Cooking Equipment: In addition to the two gas hobs inside, there is a single gas burner that you can use to cook outside. Bear comes with a fully equipped indoor kitchen which comprises: 4 traditional tin camping mugs, 4 melamine cups, bowls and large dining plates, cutlery for 4, chopping board, kettle, large frying pan and large saucepan, steamer. There are plastic non-scratch utensils, 3 sharp knives, tin opener, corkscrew/bottle opener and cheese grater. Bear also has a stove-top toasting rack that you can use over the gas hob as well as a colander and small dustpan and brush.

Water and Sanitation: Bear has been kitted out with a 70 litre internal water tank to allow for freeze-proof winter use. This feeds into a 10 litre water boiler which provides instant hot water to the internal sink and shower which is perfect for those planning to spend time off grid and be reliant on internal washing facilities.

Audio Equipment: Bear has had a head unit upgrade, now providing users with bluetooth, usb and CarPlay connectivity to the Mercedes factory speakers. This unit allows you to mirror your phone screen onto the car unit, using your phone apps safely which driving. Connectivity for music and navigation with ease make Bear a delight to drive whilst listening to your favourite music. There are a whole host of usb and mains sockets throughout so you are also welcome to bring a bluetooth speaker for playing music when parked up, but don't worry about downloading all of your music as Bear has its own WiFi! Perfect for streaming off grid.

Type of Heating: Planning a winter trip? Instead of hibernating like most, this Bear is complete with a diesel heater to keep you warm in the cold seasons.

Extra Information: Externally the highest specifications have been met, using South African imported equipment such as the 270 degree awning, BBQ and firepit as well as the flat folding director style chairs. Inside I wanted to reflect the outdoors by using natural materials throughout such as pine, leather, climbing palm, jute and cotton, which gives Bear an earthy, familiar feel.

Conversion Story: Formerly a DPD delivery van, Bear was lovingly converted as a way of fulfilling my quest for adventure which I wanted to be able to share with others. The conversion project began in January 2022 and, after 5 demanding months, is now finished.

Warning: The payload of this vehicle is 380kg. This is below the Quirky Campers recommended payload of 460kg for a vehicle with 4 belted seats. Drivers need to be aware that thetotal weight of driver, passengers and baggage must be below 380kg to keep the vehicle within its legal Max Allowed Mass (MAM) of 3500kg
